do European Cross Country Champion Mo Farah, Commonwealth Games champion
Craig Mottram, former world champions Sonia O'Sullivan and Benita
Johnson AND Dorset County AA chairman Peter Impett have in common?
The answer is that they were the guests or made special appearances at
Poole Runners' Juniors Presentation Evening held at a packed Allendale
Community Centre in Wimborne on Friday evening (12th). At the three and a half
hour event, hosted by the club's Juniors' Chairman and Head Coach Rupert
Pepper, the club honoured its members and presented several specially
made features throughout the evening.
Jon
Boyle and James Ozanne shared the award for the Young Poole Runner of
the Year, for their dedication and commitment to the club and team, and
their combined event achievements. Boyle was not able to attend the
presentation evening as he was preparing for next day's AAA
Championships in Sheffield, so Pepper conducted a live interview with
Boyle by satellite, in his hotel room! Nicky Bissett and Bethan Morris
shared the Alex Buckley Memorial Trophy for the Most Determined runner
over the past year. Other award winners were:

Improved Girl - Lauren Heppell
Most
Improved Boy - Robert Ineson
Most
Promising New Girl - Jess Alfert
Most
Promising New Boy - Stanley Parker
Track
& Field Awards - Joe Astley, Nic Phillips & Maria Seager
Endurance
Award - Ryan Trew
The
Broadstone club also celebrated the achievements of its young members
throughout the past year, including English Schools bronze medallist multi eventers Jon
Boyle, Iain Kitching, Chris Moore and Nic Phillips and British Schools
Orienteering Champion Olivia Frost, while 110 of its members gained a
Loyalty Award during the evening. The club also announced the Club's
captains for the next two years would be Joe Astley, Nicky Bissett, Neil
Chivers, Fern Dudleston, Bradley Marsh and Anna Turner. The evening was
so successful that the club are selling special commemorative
copies of the evening on DVD.
